At a kind of research concert with pop star tim bendzko, scientists want to sound out the conditions for rough events during the corona pandemic.

Pop star tim bendzko plays three concerts in the arena of the fair city under different conditions. Up to 4000 visitors are expected to be in the hall. The scientists want to use sensors and other technical aids to monitor their movements, and fluorescent disinfectant should make it possible to see which surfaces are touched particularly often. The flight of aerosols – tiny particle mixtures in the air that can carry the virus – is also to be traced.
In the regular registration period, 2210 participants love to register for the experiment. But then, according to the organizer, there were further inquiries – so that up to and including friday, last-minute registrations were still possible.
According to the physicians, the aim of the "restart-19" study is to develop a mathematical model that can be used to assess the risk of a corona outbreak after a rough event in a hall. Results should be available in the fall.
To prevent the concert experiment from becoming a so-called superspreader event, all participants in the hall must wear an FFP2 mask. In addition, a coronatest had to be carried out in advance. The organizers do not see any danger for the volunteers, especially since the infection figures in the leipzig/halle region are currently very low.
In addition to the culture and event industry, sports are also suffering from the ban on coarse events. For this reason, the national league handball players of SC dhfk leipzig are also supporting the experiment. Empty arena seats would have meant a considerable loss of income for the professional club. The trial is being financed by the federal states of saxony and saxony-anhalt.
